UNM Chair believes Georgia wins with Saakashvili's leadership, Georgians' engagement

“Forty years ago, Ronald Reagan and Margaret Thatcher founded the International Democracy Union (IDU), an international alliance of centre-right political parties, which unites approximately 80 parties from different countries, among them the United National Movement (UNM),” said Levan Khabeishvili, UNM Chair.

Levan Khabeishvili summed up the UNM delegation’s visit to the United States, saying global security, the market economy, democratic development, human rights, supremacy of law, and ending authoritarianism were the key issues reviewed at the IDU Forum in Washington.

The UNM stressed that strengthening and support of democratic, centre-right and conservative political parties was significant in these issues’ resolution.

“Within the framework of the Forum, we had the opportunity to speak to US Senators and congressional representatives, former Vice President and IDU President about concerns of our country and people. Also, we had business communication with the leaders of partner parties from different countries of the world, including Europe.

We work hard with our partners for Georgia’s prosperity and fight against the Russian oligarch. We are widening the circle of friends. With the leadership of Mikheil Saakashvili (jailed ex-president) and with the participation and involvement of Georgian people, we will definitely win,” he wrote on the social network.
