PM views opening of Ambassador Aviation Village as significant contribution to tourist potential

“Today, a new page is being turned in the history of Georgian aviation. This is a large-scale infrastructure project, Ambassador Aviation Village, which will turn Kachreti into a regional center of small aviation and an aviation tourism attraction,” said Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze during the inaugural ceremony of the project.

According to the PM, the USD 15 million investment project will make a significant contribution to strengthening the local economy and utilization of tourism potential fully.

The PM said the project is implemented with the support of a state program co-financed by the Georgian Economy Development Corporation.

“This is a multifunctional space expanded on 16 hectares of territory with a high-standard airfield, an international-standard flight academy, an aviation club, and a residential community of aviation villas. This infrastructure creates a very interesting space, which will revive the local economy and tourist potential.

Significantly, this project opens up an international arena for our youngsters since high-level pilots will be prepared here and they will obtain international-standard licenses,” he said.

Irakli Kobakhidze extended his gratitude to the 30-member crew of European pilots, who arrived in Georgia. He stressed that their arrival reconfirms Georgia’s positioning on the international aviation map.

“I am confident that Kachreti airfield, alongside the Batumi artificial island aviation base in the future, will create a united network, which will upgrade our country’s connectivity and economic potential. I would like to thank everyone who was involved in the implementation of this significant project.
