Despite heavy snowfall in Western Georgia, flights at David Agmashenebeli Kutaisi International Airport are operating smoothly, the United Airports of Georgia reported.
A recent direct flight to Riga departed as scheduled, and five more flights are planned for the day to Athens, Dortmund, Thessaloniki, Vnukovo, and Abu Dhabi (late at night). Despite the snowfall, airport services are implementing aircraft anti-icing procedures on time, and the runway and taxiways are being treated with a special anti-icing liquid.
“All scheduled flights are taking off and landing as planned,” the United Airports of Georgia stated.
Meanwhile, Batumi International Airport operates in a limited way due to bad weather. For the third day, flights originally scheduled for Batumi are being redirected to Kutaisi. Israeli airline EL Al was scheduled to operate a flight to Kutaisi instead of Batumi this evening but later decided to cancel it.
