'Union of Voters' held protest rally in front of Georgian First Channel building
At the imitative of public movement “Union of Voters”, the protest rally has been held in front of the building of Georgian First Channel today.
Participants of the rally demand to change the rules for staffing of the Board of Trustees of Georgian Public Broadcaster. In particular, they state that the Board should not be staffed by party affiliation. “Organizers of the rally believe that the current staffing rules are not democratic,”- the rally participants say.
The protesters have raised five demands, including the allocation of the airtime “for program cycle having an independent editorial policy”, preparation of legislative initiatives to transform GPB into a joint-stock company and resignation of Director General of Broadcaster Vasil Maghlaperidze.
