UFC Champion Merab Dvalishvili: I'm ready to make history again #1TVSPORT
“On October 5, I’m ready to make history once again,” declares UFC super lightweight champion Merab Dvalishvili after completing his preparations for the bout with Corey Sandhagen.
Dvalishvili also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him along the way.
“Almost time. A huge thanks to my sparring partners, coaches, and everyone who supported me throughout my training. I’m ready to make history again,” says Dvalishvili.
The 34-year-old Georgian fighter will face American Corey Sandhagen in Las Vegas on October 5. With an impressive 13 consecutive wins in the UFC, Dvalishvili claimed the super lightweight (61kg) title in September 2024 after defeating Sean O’Malley, and has successfully defended it twice this year.
A victory against Sandhagen would see him tie the record held by Aljamain Sterling, who has defended his belt in this weight class three times.
