U.S. Embassy announces opening of Act Now grant program in support of Georgia

The U.S. Embassy in Georgia announces opening of Act Now grant program in support of Georgia in its efforts to curb spread of COVID-19 in the country.

According to the U.S. Embassy, Georgian Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), civic movements, and citizen groups are invited to apply to Act Now / Rapid Response Grants to respond to the COVID-19 crisis in a timely manner.

“These grants are designed to rapidly deploy flexible resources to organizations and civic activists to take civic action and:

  • Minimize the threat/spread of COVID-19 in Georgia;
  • Provide critical support to disproportionately impacted and/or at-risk communities;
  • Facilitate inter-sectoral cooperation to help strengthen/scale up national response efforts and/or;
  • Address other significant aspects of the COVID-19 crisis as efficiently as possible.

Act Now / Rapid Response Grants can be requested at any time.

Applicants must demonstrate that the proposed intervention is critical and that it must happen quickly to be effective. Considering the urgency of the issue,

EWMI ACCESS will process the grant applications quickly – within 3 to 7 days,” reads the information published on Facebook page of U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi.

EWMI is implementing ACCESS in partnership with local organizations: the Centre for Training and Consultancy (CTC) and the Civil Development Agency (CiDA). The Project will build on the progress achieved under EWMI’s USAID-funded Policy, Advocacy, and Civil Society Development in Georgia (G-PAC) project, which bolstered the advocacy capabilities of CSOs and increased their policy influence on priority public issues.

ACCESS is funded by the US Agency for International Development (USAID). USAID administers the U.S. foreign assistance program providing economic and humanitarian assistance in more than 80 countries worldwide.
