Two foreign nationals arrested at airport following in-flight theft

Officers from the Isani-Samgori Main Division under the Tbilisi Police Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Georgia (MIA) have arrested two citizens of the People’s Republic of China on suspicion of theft.

According to the Ministry, the investigation established that during a commercial flight, the suspects unlawfully took USD 7,800 and EUR 4,450 belonging to two fellow passengers on board.

“Following rapid operational measures and investigative efforts, law enforcement officers swiftly identified the perpetrators and arrested them as suspects on airport premises. Police retrieved the stolen cash as material evidence.

The investigation is ongoing under Article 177, Part 4 of the Criminal Code of Georgia, which carries a sentence of up to 10 years’ imprisonment,” stated the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
