Twenty military para-athletes to represent Georgia at Invictus Games 2025 in Canada
The team of injured soldiers from the Georgian Ministry of Defence (MoD) has departed for Canada to participate in the Invictus Games 2025, which will be held in Vancouver and Whistler.
Deputy Defence Minister Gela Geladze and Deputy Commander of the Defence Forces Zaza Chkhaidze bid farewell to the military para-athletes team members and their supporters at Tbilisi International Airport.
Before their departure, the team trained at the sports hall of the Maro Makashvili Rehabilitation Center in Tserovani, while para-athletes engaged in exercises in Bakuriani.
A total of twenty para-athletes will represent Georgia at the Invictus Games 2025.
The Invictus Games Vancouver Whistler 2025, presented by ATCO and Boeing, will take place from February 8 to 16, 2025, bringing together up to 550 competitors from 25 nations to compete in adaptive sports. New winter sports featured in this edition will include Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding, Nordic Skiing, Biathlon, Skeleton, and Wheelchair Curling, alongside the core Invictus Games sports such as Indoor Rowing, Sitting Volleyball, Swimming, Wheelchair Rugby, and Wheelchair Basketball.
The Georgian Ministry of Defence team has participated in the Invictus Games since 2014 and has proudly secured several medals during this time.
