SSSG: Georgian citizen unlawfully detained on March 18 released
A Georgian citizen unlawfully detained on March 18, 2026, in the direction of the occupied Tskhinvali region, is released and brought to the territory controlled by the central Georgian government,” said the State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG).
According to the SSSG, the Georgian government regularly raised the issue of the unlawful detention of the Georgian during meetings of the Group on Incidents Prevention and Response Mechanisms (IPRM) and the Geneva International Discussions (GID).
The SSSG also used the hotline and all the available mechanisms. International partners were also involved in the negotiations.
“The central government, alongside international partners, continues to work actively to release all Georgian citizens being held in unlawful imprisonment across the occupied territories,” the SSSG said.
