“Georgia is a key economic partner for Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan deeply values Georgia’s constructive stance on the international stage, noting the highly significant contribution Georgia makes towards positive development,” the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedow, declared during a joint press briefing with the Prime Minister of Georgia, Irakli Kobakhidze.

Serdar Berdimuhamedow thanked the Georgian Prime Minister and noted that their meeting focused heavily on elevating the relations between the two countries to a qualitatively new level.

“We have just concluded our meeting with the Prime Minister. We had a friendly and highly constructive conversation. It was reaffirmed that cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia will continue long into the future. This is a commitment both sides embrace.

We agreed to expand our political relations, cooperation, and diplomatic efforts to ensure our partnership endures over the long term. Georgia is a key economic partner for Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan deeply values Georgia’s constructive stance on the international stage and notes the highly significant contribution Georgia makes towards positive development.

I wish to thank the Prime Minister of Georgia and express my particular gratitude to him. We are delighted by the broadening of cooperation mechanisms with international organisations, particularly the United Nations. During our meeting, we focused heavily on elevating our relations to a qualitatively new level.

Within this visit, we discussed various issues at the Turkmenistan–Georgia Business Forum, including measures to increase trade volume. This is a core area of our cooperation. We attach particular importance to strengthening business ties and economic cooperation. We wish to make our economic links even more diverse.

The South Caucasus plays a vital role as a transit route connecting the Caspian and Caucasus regions. In this context, I would like to emphasise that our joint transport and logistics portfolio includes highly promising projects. Among these are the Lapis Lazuli Corridor, whose participants include Afghanistan, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, and Turkey, and the Caspian Sea–Black Sea transport corridor, which brings together Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Romania.

Our countries are actively participating in the development of these transport corridors. We agreed to continue working within the framework of these projects and to cooperate closely with other participating nations. Serious negotiations are already underway regarding the highly efficient use of Caspian and Black Sea port infrastructure, which will generate mutual benefits for both sides. We wish to deepen our partnership across energy, telecommunications, industry, manufacturing, textiles, construction, and many other sectors,” the President of Turkmenistan noted.

Furthermore, he remarked that the Turkmen and Georgian peoples have long shared deep connections.

“Our peoples share long-standing historical ties, and today these relations are entering a new phase. We attach particular importance to our collaboration on humanitarian matters. We agreed to offer our full support to the desire of our peoples to become even more closely acquainted with each other’s rich culture and heritage. We also want to establish conditions that foster creative cooperation in the arts.

It is equally important to deepen cooperation in the scientific and educational fields, including partnerships between universities. These issues form an essential part of the package of agreements signed during this visit. This visit holds great symbolic value, as it coincides with the 35th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Georgia. I congratulate you, Prime Minister, on this milestone.

We are extremely satisfied with the outcomes of the meetings held with the representatives of the Georgian government and the agreements reached today. We are confident that this will further strengthen cooperation between Turkmenistan and Georgia. I would like to wish the friendly people of Georgia peace, prosperity, and success,” Serdar Berdimuhamedow stated.
