Turkish Trade Minister: Tsinandali Forum is Davos of Caspian and Caucasus region
“The trilateral forum held in Tsinandali was to Georgia, Türkiye, and Azerbaijan what the Davos Forum is to the Caspian and Caucasus region; from an economic standpoint, our countries are each other’s largest trading partners,” said Türkiye’s Minister of Trade, Ömer Bolat.
Speaking to journalists on the sidelines of the forum, the minister noted that Türkiye is Georgia’s largest trading partner.
“At the direction of our countries’ leaders, it is the goal of our ministers of economy and trade to grow that figure to five billion U.S. dollars,” Bolat said.
The Turkish Trade Minister also highlighted the strength of bilateral cooperation in investments, emphasising the considerable presence of Turkish investors in Georgia.
“Turkish foreign direct investment in Georgia has surpassed USD 2.2 billion, spanning sectors such as energy, aviation, transport, and beyond. Turkish investors take pride in their presence in Georgia and in contributing to the country’s economic growth. We also look forward to witnessing Georgian investments flow into Türkiye,” Bolat said.
He further emphasised the three countries’ collective weight in the wider region, describing Türkiye, Georgia, and Azerbaijan as the principal players in the Caucasus when it comes to international trade, transportation, and energy.
“As such, these three countries will deepen their already close economic integration even further, and business forums of this kind will play a vital role in making that vision a reality,” the Turkish Trade Minister said.
