Transport Minister of Kazakhstan: We are interested in Middle Corridor route development

Nurlan Sauranbayev, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Transport, highlighted the importance of developing the Middle Corridor and enhancing transit. He addressed the panel discussion titled “Middle Corridor: From Reliable to Impactful,” held as part of the 5th Tbilisi Silk Road Forum.

According to Nurlan Sauranbayev, the forum was an important event for Kazakhstan.

“Transit, which we call “Second Oil” in Kazakhstan, is the future for many countries, including those that are attending the forum. We are interested in the development of the Middle Corridor. Additionally, an important part is the intergovernmental agreement at the legal and institutional levels. Those wishing to invest in infrastructure are interested in guarantees of the success these flows will bring them.

Therefore, we should prepare an inter-government agreement with the participation of all countries,” he said.

The co-rapporteurs at the panel discussion were Mariam Kvrivishvili, Georgian Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, Rashad Nabiyev, the Minister of Digital Development and Transportation of Azerbaijan, Yingming Yang, Vice-President (South, Central and West Asia) of the Asian Development Bank, and Osman Boyraz, Transport and Infrastructure Minister of Turkiye.
