Traffic restrictions to be imposed in parts of Tbilisi in connection with May 26 events

The Tbilisi City Hall has announced large-scale traffic restrictions in central Tbilisi due to events marking Georgia’s Independence Day celebrations.

According to the statement, road closures around the Presidential Palace will be in effect from May 20 at 08:00 until May 28 at the end of the day on Atoneli Street.

Authorities said vehicles traveling from Soliko Virsaladze and Giorgi Chanturia streets toward Atoneli Street will be rerouted via Italy Street toward the Dry Bridge area, while traffic from the Dry Bridge toward Atoneli Street will be redirected through Virsaladze and Chanturia streets.

Additional adjustments will affect sections of the right bank of the Mtkvari River, including routes from Rena Abjandadze Street toward Vakhtang Orbeliani Street and Mtkvari Street.

Further restrictions will be in place near the Dry Bridge and surrounding streets, including Italy Street and Atoneli Street, from May 24 to May 28.

Temporary closures will also affect Freedom Square and nearby areas, with several time windows during which access will be restricted, particularly between May 20–22 and May 24–27.

City Hall said alternative routes will be available via nearby streets such as Giorgi Leonidze, Pavle Ingorokva, Aleksandre Chavchavadze, Aleksandre Griboedov, Nikoloz Baratashvili, and Revaz Tabukashvili streets, as well as surrounding connections.

Officials urged drivers to follow the temporary traffic scheme and use designated alternative routes during the holiday-related events.
