Teimuraz Lomtadze elected as Prosecutorial Council member 

At the Prosecutors’ Conference, Teimuraz Lomtadze, Deputy Prosecutor of the Western Georgia Regional Office, was elected as the new prosecutor member of the Prosecutorial Council, the Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia (POG) reported on Monday.

According to the POG statement, with the majority of votes, Lomtadze was chosen in a secret ballot from three candidates nominated by initiative groups.

Under Georgia’s Organic Law on the Prosecutor’s Office, the Prosecutorial Council consists of 15 members, including 8 prosecutors elected by the Prosecutors’ Conference through secret ballot.

The term of office for a council member is four years. “The Prosecutorial Council plays a key role in ensuring the independence and transparency of the Prosecutor’s Office,” the statement emphasizes.
