Tbilisi Mayor welcomes government’s initiative to arrange charter flights for Georgian citizens

“The government’s decision to organise charter flights for Georgian citizens is a welcome development,” stated Kakha Kaladze, Mayor of Tbilisi, during a meeting of the city’s municipal council.

Kakha Kaladze also extended his condolences to the Iranian and Jewish communities in light of recent hostilities, expressing his hope for peace across the entire region.

“Military operations threaten all nations within the region. Naturally, we cannot remain indifferent to these events. I offer my sympathies to the Iranian people and our friendly Jewish community. I wish them peace. May our country, and indeed the whole world, find peace, for without it, development and progress are impossible. Due to the current situation in the Middle East, the airspace of several countries has been closed. Georgian citizens remain in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

In response, the Georgian government has organised special charter flights. These flights will depart from Oman. As I mentioned in my video yesterday, and I reiterate today, you should definitely contact the Georgian Embassy for detailed information. This is the mark of a responsible government, prioritising the safety and well-being of its citizens. I extend my gratitude to the government and the Prime Minister for this decision,” Kaladze affirmed.

Furthermore, the Mayor of Tbilisi expressed his appreciation to Georgian businessmen who managed to fly 122 Georgian citizens from Muscat to Tbilisi free of charge on a commercial charter flight they organised.

“For two days, falsehoods and slander have been circulating widely on social media and in the press. They distort the truth. It’s no wonder people are confused about the situation. I will stop here and once again wish peace for our region and the world. I also thank the United Arab Emirates and Qatar for their concern for our citizens. I hope that all our people return safely to their homeland,” Kakha Kaladze concluded.
