Tbilisi Mayor: No room in Georgian politics for those who serve foreign interests and take external orders
“There is no place in Georgian politics for individuals or politicians who represent an agent network within the country, serve the interests of other nations, and accept external directives,” stated Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, commenting on the legislative package concerning the party ban.
Kaladze emphasised that those who genuinely serve the will of the Georgian people should be the ones involved in politics.
“We have seen clear evidence that such influences are harmful to our small nation. We are still recovering from the pain and misfortune that have befallen us. Those who carry out the wishes of the Georgian people should be the ones in power. It is a grave problem when individuals prioritise the interests of others over their own nation. A political party must, above all, serve its own people. That is why this decision is so crucial,” Kaladze emphasised.
He also pointed out that this issue is not unique to Georgia but is a challenge faced by many countries.
“We are dealing with an agent network that has been cultivated over the years, with hundreds of millions of dollars spent to establish it. This problem is not exclusive to Georgia. In numerous states, where certain individuals have attempted to orchestrate coups d’état, they have employed similar methods. Even the President of the United States has spoken about this. We voiced concerns about it years ago, only to be met with ridicule and mockery,” Kaladze concluded.
