Tbilisi Mayor Kaladze: Georgia’s patriotic government upsets some European bureaucrats

“Some European bureaucrats have been unable to install their preferred agents in power, which is why they are making such statements,” said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze in response to criticism from certain European MPs.

Kaladze told the media that some European lawmakers dislike Georgia’s patriotic government and are attempting to influence the country’s leadership.

“We understand their motives. This is not the first time. It’s nothing new for us or Georgian society. Some European bureaucrats were defeated in recent elections in Georgia. They criticized our transparency law, claiming it undermines democracy, yet in Brussels, they advocate for similar legislation. Over the years, there have been multiple attempts to overthrow our government—all financed from abroad. These efforts are driven by patrons who want Georgia’s leadership to change—because our government stands for the interests of the people. This is precisely what they dislike. They couldn’t bring their preferred agents to power – the people meant doing whatever their patrons ordered, even if it meant going against the country’s interests,” Kaladze stated.
