Japanese Digital Agency delegation meets Justice Ministry representatives 

A delegation from Japan’s Digital Agency, led by Hideto Kawasaki, Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation, has visited Georgia and held a meeting with representatives of the Georgian Ministry of Justice, the ministry said.

According to the Ministry of Justice, Deputy Ministers Lana Morgoshia and Tamar Zodelava briefed the Japanese delegation on reforms implemented by Georgia’s Ministry of Justice to improve access to services and advance digitalization.

The meeting also focused on the ministry’s priorities and major developments in the delivery of public services in Georgia.

The ministry highlighted that citizens across the country have access to public and private services through 127 Justice Houses designed around users’ needs. To overcome geographic barriers, 20 mobile Justice Houses serve residents of 90 villages. Services are also available through Justice Houses operating within penitentiary institutions.

More than 400 public and private services can be accessed online through the unified electronic portal MY.GOV.GE. Georgia has also introduced the “Smart Contract,” which enables the remote registration of private property with the support of artificial intelligence.

Particular attention was paid to Georgia’s systematic land registration reform, which has received international recognition. According to the World Bank, Georgia’s model of systematic land registration is exemplary on a global scale, while the Public Registry has “high potential to provide expert support to other countries.”

Under the reform, the Public Registry carried out land surveying and registered property rights free of charge for citizens across 59 municipalities.
