Georgia, Japan sign memorandum on cooperation in digitalization

Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development Tamar Ioseliani and Japan’s Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation Hideto Kawasaki have signed a memorandum of cooperation on digitalization between the Georgian Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development and Japan’s Digital Agency, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development said.

According to the ministry, Ioseliani said the Georgian government’s goal is to develop a modern, secure and innovative digital ecosystem in the country.

She noted that the process includes further improving public services, strengthening the digital economy, introducing new technologies, promoting the responsible use of artificial intelligence, and fostering more active cooperation between the public and private sectors.

“Japan’s experience is particularly valuable to us in this process, as the country has significant practical expertise in both digital governance and the development of advanced technologies, as well as their integration into economic and social processes,” Ioseliani said.
