TAV Georgia presented projects it has implemented on the aerodrome of Tbilisi International Airport over the past year as part of the investment in the development of Tbilisi International Airport.

The need to improve the aerodrome infrastructure arose against the background of increased passenger flow.

Taxiway “E” has been expanded and now meets national and ICAO standards. Alongside these works, Sakaeronavigatsia implemented the update/installation of visual navigation aids (lights and signs).

Tbilisi International Airport has seen significant infrastructure improvements, including the addition of new aircraft stands and the rehabilitation of existing ones. A new stand for wide-body aircraft, compliant with ICAO standards “F” and “E,” was constructed, while apron #3 was upgraded to accommodate three stands for narrow-body aircraft (ICAO standard “C”) and three helicopter stands.

The aerodrome section underwent extensive renovation, with 100,000 m² of pavement renewed. The airport also acquired new maintenance equipment essential for ongoing operations. Additionally, a project is underway to modernize and expand the airport’s fire service depot, including the purchase of a new rapid response fire truck based on European brand RENAULT and compliant with ICAO standards.

Levan Moseshvili, Head of Aerodrome Compliance Monitoring at TAV Georgia, emphasized the substantial resources and investments needed to maintain airport infrastructure, especially as passenger traffic continues to rise.

Over the past year alone, TAV Georgia invested approximately 16 million GEL to enhance aerodrome facilities, ensuring high-quality service and maximum safety. These expansions enable Tbilisi International Airport to efficiently accommodate wide-body aircraft and increase overall capacity. The upgraded fire depot will feature a training area for staff and an emergency operations centre to improve emergency management.

TAV Georgia has been operating in the country for 20 years, with total investments exceeding USD 227 million.
