Supreme Council of Justice to elect 4 member Judges

Supreme Council of Justice elected 4 member Judges during the Conference of Judges on Wednesday. The elected members are Badri Shonia, Temur Gogokhia, Gocha Abuseridze and Levan Mikaberidze.

A total of 129 conference participants of took part in the voting. The majority of the participants supported the proposed candidates.

Gocha Abuserdize said he was ready to cooperate with representatives of all sectors. The newly-elected judges do not agree with the allegations that they were elected only because they enjoy the protection of influential groups of judges.” They claimed that the balloting process was transparent.

The duty terms of 4 member judges, Dimitri Gvritishvili, Vasil Mshvenieradze, Irakli Shengelia and Irakli Bondarenko expire on June 24.

A protest rally was held in parallel to the Conference of Judges at the Supreme School of Justice earlier on Wednesday. Protesters demanded postponement of the voting.
