Strong Georgia's Elisashvili released on bail

Aleko Elisashvili, a member of Strong Georgia, has been released on bail set at 4,000 GEL.

The Tbilisi City Court made this ruling after partially granting a motion by the prosecution, which had initially requested a bail of 5,000 GEL.

Elisashvili’s lawyers opposed the bail decision. They argued that Elisashvili had not committed a crime and should not face any preventive measures. They further disputed the charges, claiming that Elisashvili acted in self-defence during the incident involving Ali Babaev, the chairman of the Azerbaijani National Congress. The lawyer says that Ali Babaev committed the crime and Elisashvili herself is the victim.

Elisashvili was arrested on December 4 following an alleged altercation near a pharmacy in Tbilisi with Babaev. He faces charges under Article 156 of the Criminal Code, which addresses persecution through violence.
The Tbilisi City Court sentenced Aleko Elisashvili to imprisonment as a preventive measure on December 6.
