Strategy Aghmashenebeli: Early elections to be held in 2021, local self-governance elections - in 2022

The opposition Strategy Aghmashenebeli Party is ready to propose alternative, compromise versions to the ruling Georgian Dream party as the means to drive out from the current political crises in the country.

According to Sergo Chkhladze, a member of Strategy Aghmashenebeli, the party initiates holding early elections in the fall of 2021, and local self-governance elections – in 2022.

Sergo Chikhladze said the opposition should be engaged in the parliamentary work. However, the opposition would not agree on taking up MP mandates in the parliament convened through the forged elections.

Chikhladze said that western partners also called on the GD Party to continue negotiations but no compromise proposal came from the ruling party.

“We should better ask the Georgian Dream if they want to continue negotiations and if they are ready to reach an agreement with the opposition,” he claimed.
