Sports competitions held within Wounded Warriors Week

Various sports competitions are held within the framework of the Wounded Warriors Week of the Georgian Defence Ministry.

The David Aghmashenebeli National Defence Academy is hosting the sports activities in Gori. Wounded soldiers compete in table tennis, arm wrestling, and air gun and rifle shooting.

The Defence Academy Rector, Brigadier General Mamia Balakhadze and Eastern Command Chief Colonel Besik Nebadze attended the competitions and awarded winners with gold, silver and bronze medals.

By decision of the Georgian government, June 30 is officially observed as Wounded Warriors Day. The annual observance includes a week of sporting and cultural events aimed at supporting wounded and injured military servants, highlighting their achievements, and raising public awareness.
