Square named after actor Zurab Kapianidze opened in Tbilisi
At the initiative of the Denominations and Symbols Commission of the Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo), the square named after famous Georgian actor Zurab Kapianidze was opened in Tbilisi, symbolically on the actor’s commemoration day.
According to the press service of Tbilisi Sakrebulo, Denominations and Symbols Commission Chair Levan Abashidze delivered a speech at the event.
“On the initiative of the Tbilisi City Council, today we opened a square named after the renowned Georgian actor Zurab Kapianidze in the neighborhood where the actor lived and which he loved. Zurab Kapianidze was both an outstanding actor and an individual. He created numerous memorable characters in Georgian cinema. It is symbolic that the Zurab Kapianidze Square was opened on the very day of his passing away,” he said.
Zurab Kapianidze’s family members, First Vice Speaker Gia Volski, MP Irma Zavradashvili, Didube District single-mandate MP Shota Kevkhishvili, poets and actors addressed the event attendees.
There is a street named after Zurab Kapianidze in Tbilisi.
