Archil Tatunashvili’s body is in Tskhinvali, – Kakhaber Kemoklidze, Deputy Head of Information-Analytical Department of State Security Service of Georgia, said before the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanism Meeting (IPRM) in Gali. According to Kemoklidze, only expert materials are sent to Russia.

“So-called information outlets of the de facto government reported that Tatunashvili’s body had been transferred to Russia. We checked this information late last night through the hot line and confirmed that the body is really in Tskhinvali,” Kemoklidze said.

According to Kemoklidze, the state security service and the government are working to return the body to the family as soon as possible. Kemoklidze also noted that impunity for the persons, who are accused of various crimes,  will have even more grave consequences.

“The recent developments in Akhalgori are a classic example that impunity from de facto governments and Russian occupation forces may have even more grave consequences. We will talk with this pathos at today’s meeting and remind the representatives of the de facto authorities as well as international organizations that it is necessary persons convicted of murder, including Rashid Kandhi-Ogli who is accused of murdering Giga Otkhozoria, to be punished according to the Georgian legislation,” – said Kemoklidze.
