State Security Service detained 3 people as result of special operation in Pankisi Gorge

The State Security Service carried out a special operation in Omalo and Duisi villages of Pankisi Gorge early this morning. Three people are detained as a result of the special operation. The Special Squad has already left the Gorge.

A large amount of weapons have been confiscated from the house of local Bado Chopikashvili, who was detained on charge of provision of weapons to the criminal group of Ahmed Chataev. Law enforcers also detained brothers Machalikashvilis.

The special operation is linked to the operation carried out at Monk Gabriel Salosi Street in Tbilisi. Investigation into the case of the detainees is in progress.
