State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality Tea Akhvlediani held a meeting with ambassadors accredited to the United Nations, according to the State Minister’s Office.
Akhvlediani emphasized the importance of the diplomats’ visit to Georgia and highlighted ongoing cooperation within the UN framework. She also thanked the ambassadors for their continued support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders.
During the meeting, the State Minister outlined key priorities of the government’s policy, including reconciliation and engagement with the occupied regions, as well as efforts to promote civic equality and the integration of ethnic minorities.
Akhvlediani also reviewed specific aspects of the government’s peace policy, including the initiative Steps to a Better Future, which aims to improve socio-economic conditions for conflict-affected populations, strengthen dialogue, and rebuild trust among divided communities.
Special attention was given to the humanitarian and human rights situation in the occupied regions. The Minister noted that, due to the ongoing occupation, internally displaced persons and refugees are still unable to return to their homes safely and with dignity.
For their part, the ambassadors expressed strong interest in Georgia’s peace policy and shared experience, thanking the Minister for the detailed briefing.
