PM Kobakhidze travels to Batumi on high-speed train, says journey time reduced from 5.5 hours to under four

“Today we travelled by train at its new operating speed; previously, the journey time was five and a half hours, and now it has been cut to under four hours. This is immensely important for passengers, for the citizens of our country, for our visitors, and it is equally significant from a tourism perspective,” Prime Minister of Georgia Irakli Kobakhidze told journalists.

As the Head of Government noted, extensive reforms have been carried out across Georgian Railway over the past year.

“I would like to recall once again that over the past year, fundamental changes have been implemented across Georgian Railway, and this upgrade to passenger train services is a clear reflection of those efforts. A great deal more is planned regarding the modernisation of our railway network, details of which we have periodically shared with the public, and all these reforms and enhancements will strictly be delivered on schedule,” Irakli Kobakhidze stated.
