SSSG on Hexogen case: Another rented flat by accused Denis Zhuravlyov found in Gldani; search seizes computer microchips, documents, and cash

The State Security Service of Georgia (SSSG) continues operational-investigative activities in connection with the “Hexogen” case.

According to the SSSG, yet another conspiratorial flat rented by the accused Denis Zhuravlyov in Tbilisi’s Gldani district has been discovered and searched.

“As a result, computer microchips of various sizes, documents, and a sum of money were discovered. The specific purpose of the seized items is being studied,” the State Security Service states.

For information, the State Security Service of Georgia and the Ministry of Internal Affairs arrested two Ukrainian citizens. During a briefing held at the SSSG on September 11, it was noted that on September 11, 2025, a MERCEDES-BENZ lorry with Ukrainian registration plates, travelling from Ukraine towards Georgia via Romania and Bulgaria, crossed the state border from Turkiye, and entered the country through the Sarpi customs checkpoint. Following its interception and inspection, 2.4 kilogrammes of the explosive substance “hexogen” were found in the vehicle, concealed in carefully disguised hiding places.

Moreover, according to State Security Service information, based on operational materials, the final destination of the explosive substance smuggled from Ukraine at that stage appeared to be Tbilisi, a residential building located in the Avlabari area.
