Speaker says some MEPs want to separate Georgian people and government

“Some European politicians are using Russian propaganda tools. They want to separate the Georgian people and their elected government from each other that is a dangerous way,” Shalva Papuashvili, Georgian Parliament Speaker told the GPB’s First Channel.

According to the Speaker, there is a certain group in the European Parliament, which is a “political friend and an ally” to ex-president Mikheil Saakashvili.

Papuashvili went on to say that the EU adopted three resolutions, which were full of disinformation. He blamed the MEPs for encouraging Saakashvili’s plans.

“It was them to encourage Saakashvili’s radical plot to organize disorder in Georgia. If not active work of the Georgian intelligence services to arrest Saakashvili, nobody would know what could have happened in Georgia. It is the responsibility of these politicians to have encouraged Saakashvili to take such a step.

In their place, I would wish to acknowledge their own contribution, how they promoted radicalism in Georgia, and with this responsibility, reconsider their attitude towards the Georgian people. It is an offense of the Georgian people when there is an attempt to separate them from their elected government. This is the most obvious example of non-democracy,” he said.
