Speaker says he will meet colleagues in Montenegro to review regional cooperation, EU-NATO issues

Georgian Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili said that, within the framework of his visit to Montenegro, he will have the opportunity to highlight the significance of regional cooperation with his colleagues.

“The visit of the parliamentary delegation to Montenegro has been launched. This time, as President of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation organization’s Parliamentary Assembly, I will participate in the First Summit of the Chairmen of the Member and Partner Countries of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Mediterranean. I will meet with my colleagues and speak about the significance of regional cooperation, accentuating the experience of Black Sea countries,” he said.

Shalva Papuashvili noted that he would review EU-NATO issues with parliamentary chairmen of different countries.

“I believe regional cooperation formats are more beneficial than global unions since, taking into account the regional specifics, it is simpler to explain to colleagues in which conditions a country develops. I will meet the Parliament Speakers of Malta, Montenegro, North Macedonia, and chairpersons of the assembly member states, some of which are the organization’s members. We will speak with candidate countries to learn their experience and challenges.

During our recent meetings in Istanbul, we saw a lot in common with the candidate countries, in terms of challenges, when there are many demands on the long road, but few promises are met,” he said.
