The Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, Shalva Papuashvili, has responded to today’s statement by the EU Ambassador to Georgia, Paweł Herczynski.

In his statement, Herczynski said: “Georgian authorities have decided to adopt laws that are contrary to EU rules, to EU regulations, to EU principles. With these laws, it would be impossible for Georgia to become a member of the European Union. I’m really sorry to say this so openly and blatantly.”

Shalva Papuashvili replied on social media: “The only thing the laws adopted by the Georgian Parliament contradict is the desire of the current Brussels bureaucracy to secretly fund radicalism and propaganda that have nothing to do with the principles of the European Union. I am very sorry that I have to say this openly and blatantly.”
