Serbian President Vučić welcomes tightening ties with Georgia after ‘warm conversation’ with PM Kobakhidze

Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić and Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze met on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.

Aleksandar Vučić shared details of the meeting on social media.

“I had a warm conversation with Irakli Kobakhidze on further deepening bilateral cooperation, as well as on the traditionally friendly relations between Serbia and Georgia, which are built upon the historical, cultural, and religious ties between our peoples.

It was a pleasure to recall my recent visit to Georgia, which further contributed to the development of political dialogue and friendly relations between our countries.

We discussed opportunities to strengthen our economic ties, increase trade turnover, and foster cooperation in areas of mutual interest. The launch of direct Belgrade–Tbilisi flights, alongside Serbia’s decision to open an embassy in Georgia, holds particular significance. These steps will bring our peoples even closer together and help deepen our overall cooperation.

It is also very important for us that Georgia has officially confirmed its participation in the specialised exhibition EXPO 2027. This will offer yet another opportunity to bring our economies and peoples closer together,” wrote Vučić.
