Restrictions lifted in Devdoraki Gorge; Larsi border checkpoint resumes normal operations

Following a recommendation from the National Environmental Agency (NEA) and an assessment of current conditions in the Devdoraki Gorge, the Ministry of Internal Affairs has lifted vehicular traffic restrictions. The Dariali (Larsi) border checkpoint has also resumed normal operations.

According to the Interior Ministry, an alert was triggered earlier this morning by the Devdoraki early warning system, which detects riverbed variations even from minimal flow increases.

In accordance with established protocols, individuals at the Dariali border checkpoint, including members of the public, as well as personnel from the Patrol Police, Customs Service, Border Police, and private entities working at the crossing, were safely evacuated.

As a precautionary measure, traffic for all types of vehicles was restricted in both directions near the village of Gveleti. According to the National Environmental Agency, the threat level in the Devdoraki Gorge has now passed.
