Regional Development Minister says municipalities to develop long-term plans aligned with sectoral ministries at PM’s initiative
“Local resources are insufficient to meet all the needs of the municipality, which is why long-term action plans will soon be submitted to sectoral ministries. The recent meeting with mayors and chairpersons of local councils was highly fruitful and productive,” stated Kakha Guledani, Minister of Regional Development of Georgia.
As Kakha Guledani explained, under the Prime Minister’s initiative, municipalities have begun working on comprehensive long-term plans, with the Ministry of Regional Development involved throughout the process.
“We are streamlining these processes. At this stage, each municipality has already developed a long-term development plan; however, local resources alone cannot address all the needs within the municipality. Therefore, in the near future, these long-term action plans will be sent to sectoral ministries. The plans for local self-government and the plans of sectoral ministries will be reconciled and aligned, after which the process will return to the municipality. The long-term action plans will be publicly discussed with the local population and ultimately approved by the Sakrebulo. I believe the meeting was very productive and beneficial,” Kakha Guledani concluded.
