Punishment for non-notification and conceal of crime to become stricter

The punishment for non-notification and conceal of crime as well as for giving false testimony or refusal to testify will become stricter – Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) reports.

According to MIA, the legislative changes, preconditioned by problems with respect to practice of cooperation with investigation, have already been published.

Based on the acting law, the same sanctions were envisaged for conceal of crimes of all categories. Currently, conceal of crime is punished with 1-3 years in prison, non-notification – 2-4 years.

Based on the proposed changes, sanctions will be different for each category of crime and minor and grave crimes will be differentiated.
