MIA launches investigation into Bochormi Street explosion

The Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated an investigation into the explosion that occurred at the Battleground shooting range on Bochormi Street in Tbilisi, under the third part of Article 240 of the Criminal Code.

According to the MIA, investigative efforts are ongoing to ascertain the cause of the explosion. Expert criminalists, miners, and personnel from other relevant units are actively working at the scene. Additionally, experts from various fields, including the Fire and Explosive Matters Research Service and an engineering expert from the energy department of the Levan Samkharauli Expertise Bureau, are contributing to the investigation.

Upon receiving notification of the incident, firefighters, patrol police, and criminal police promptly responded to the scene. Firefighters extracted two deceased individuals and four injured individuals, one of whom later succumbed to injuries in the hospital.

Notably, one of the deceased individuals was an employee of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and two of the injured were also ministry employees, with the remaining injured individual being an employee of the Battleground store.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs extends its condolences to the families of the deceased and expresses deep sorrow over the tragic incident.
