The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia reported that criminal proceedings were initiated against 25,086 individuals last year, including 588 minors, according to its annual report submitted to the Parliament of Georgia.

The report states that prosecutors requested preventive measures for 23,582 individuals. Of these, 35.1% were custodial measures, while 64.9% were non-custodial.

According to the agency, the most common categories of criminal prosecution included fraud (655 cases), theft (3,733), drug-related offenses (6,122), domestic crimes (4,585), and threats (2,477).

The Prosecutor’s Office also reported that 3,404 individuals were diverted from criminal liability, including 581 juveniles. Convictions were issued against 20,922 individuals, with plea agreements applied in 86.5% of cases.

In addition, 17,209 individuals were granted victim status, while 4,952 received assistance from victim and witness coordinators.

The report further notes that 18,089 plea agreements were concluded overall, resulting in more than 138 million GEL in compensation paid to victims.

Regarding asset recovery, authorities confiscated property worth over 91 million GEL under Article 52 of the Criminal Code.

The document also highlights international cooperation and administrative workload: the Prosecutor’s Office received 1,829 requests for legal assistance from foreign countries, registered 128,282 documents in its electronic case management system, and sent 18,346 letters in physical form.
