The Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia has released an official statement regarding the verdict handed down against Aleko Elisashvili.

According to the Prosecutor’s Office, the Tbilisi City Court fully accepted the evidence submitted by the state and found Alexander Elisashvili guilty of an attempted terrorist act.

The evidence examined during the trial established that on November 29, 2025, at approximately 04:00, a masked Alexander Elisashvili arrived at the Tbilisi City Court building armed with a firearm, ammunition, and tools required to carry out a terrorist act. Using a hammer, he smashed the glass facade of the court’s administrative office and gained entry into the building.

“Following his unlawful entry into the building, Alexander Elisashvili poured a large quantity of flammable liquid over various areas of the interior, including office equipment and documentation, and attempted to ignite a fire. While pouring the flammable substance, Alexander Elisashvili was caught in the act by officers of the court’s bailiff service. Upon seeing one of the bailiffs, Alexander Elisashvili attacked and began beating him. During the arrest, three bailiff service officers attempted to neutralise Alexander Elisashvili, prevent him from igniting the flammable substance, and disarm him. The attacker, for his part, tried to draw and use his firearm. Alexander Elisashvili actively resisted the bailiff service officers for approximately 5 to 6 minutes; it was only after overcoming this resistance that he was successfully neutralised and detained,” the statement from the Prosecutor’s Office read.

The court found Alexander Elisashvili guilty of the attempted terrorist act and sentenced him to a 13-year term of imprisonment.

“We remind the public that Alexander Elisashvili faces additional charges regarding another episode involving an attempted terrorist act by arson at Tbilisi City Court, and the substantive trial for that case is currently ongoing at Tbilisi City Court,” the Prosecutor’s Service noted.
