Prosecutor General of Georgia, Giorgi Gvarakidze, presented a report to Parliament outlining the activities of the Prosecutor’s Office over the past year. The 209-page document begins with a welcoming address from the Prosecutor General.

The report notes that in 2025, despite progress achieved in the fight against corruption, the Prosecutor’s Office will continue to pursue a strict and consistent criminal justice policy, alongside preventive measures.

“We will be uncompromising towards those who commit these crimes, both in supporting investigations and state prosecution, because corruption weakens the state and undermines the sense of law and justice in society,” the report states.

The document also outlines the main priorities of the investigative body, emphasizing continued strict enforcement against crimes including money laundering, drug-related offenses, trafficking, crimes against minors, violence against women and domestic violence, privacy violations, and certain economic crimes.

It further highlights the Prosecutor’s Office’s focus on protecting the rights and legitimate interests of victims, as well as increasing public trust in the justice system.

“Swift and effective justice is the most important component of the right to a fair trial,” the report says. “Accordingly, we will continue to maintain a high rate of plea agreements and alternative prosecution mechanisms, in line with criminal justice policy principles.”

The report also underlines plans for institutional strengthening, including technological development, professional training, and improved qualifications of staff.

“Despite existing challenges, I believe that through a consistent criminal justice policy, coordinated cooperation, and the involvement of each employee, we will be able to properly fulfill the assigned tasks,” Gvarakidze notes in the report.
