Prosecution to indict one person for violence against GPB cameraman
Georgian Prosecutor General’s Office indicted one person for violence against the Georgian Public Broadcaster (GPB) cameraman Ilia Tvaliashvili during the anti-Tbilisi Pride rally on July 5-6 in Tbilisi.
Law enforcers detained the assailant on July 14. The trial may be appointed today.
The Prosecutor’s Office charged 22 individuals for the assault of journalists and thwarting their professional activities so far.
Thirty-six people, among them 30 journalists and cameramen, are recognized as the victims of violence. The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) continues its investigation to identify other assailants.
Fifty-five persons, among them fifty-three media representatives, including the GPB cameraman, were assaulted during the anti-Tbilisi Pride rally on July 5, according to the Interior Ministry. Tbilisi Pride cancelled the scheduled march amid violent protests.
