Prime Minister engages with regional officials, mayors, and municipal assembly leaders

Irakli Kobakhidze, Prime Minister of Georgia, held meetings with regional representatives, including municipal mayors and chairpersons of municipal assemblies across the country.

The Head of Government of Georgia emphasised the long-term development of the regions and the importance of coordination between central and local authorities, which will support the effective implementation of major projects. The meeting also addressed optimisation within structural units.

“Close coordination between the central government and local self-governments is very important. Many projects are being implemented by ministries at the local level, and the involvement of municipalities is essential. We also discussed issues related to social assistance. These databases require a thorough review, and we will actively collaborate on this matter with the involvement of municipalities. We also highlighted the importance of preventive steps taken nationwide against corruption. Many significant efforts have been carried out in this direction. It is important that we are also able to prevent corrupt practices as much as possible at the level of local self-governance,” stated Irakli Kobakhidze.

The meeting was attended by Speaker of Parliament Shalva Papuashvili, Minister of Infrastructure Revaz Sokhadze, Minister of Regional Development Kakha Guledani, Head of the State Security Service Mamuka Mdinaradze, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Regional Policy and Self-Governance Irakli Kadagishvili, Committee Member Dimitri Samkharadze, Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara Sulkhan Tamazashvili and Chairman of the Supreme Council of Adjara David Gabaidze.
