President's Administration tells Chinese Ambassador Zourabichvili's remarks not linked to Georgia-China relations

Head of the Georgian President’s Administration, Natia Sulava, met the Ambassador of China to Georgia, Zhou Qian.

At the Orbeliani President’s Palace meeting, Natia Sulava told the Ambassador that President Salome Zourabichvili’s interview with French LCI TV Channel did not hint at Georgia-China relations when she spoke about the President of the People’s Republic of China.

“The entire interview focused on Georgia-EU relations, Russia, and the President’s remarks only concerned the president of the country, which holds Georgia’s territories occupied,” the Presidential Administration said in its statement.

On November 13, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili, during a meeting with the Chinese ambassador, expressed his strong disapproval of the statement made by the Georgian President, Salome Zourabichvili, about the President of the People’s Republic of China, Xi Jinping, in an interview with the French TV channel LCI.

The PM regretted the president’s statement and hoped it would not damage the positive historical dynamics of Georgia-China relations.
