Girchi’s Khvichia: It is regrettable that UNM was late to react to how Nika Gvaramia robbed the party

“We were concerned that the United National Movement’s reaction to the obvious fact of how Nika Gvaramia robbed the United National Movement had been delayed until now,” Girchi leader Iago Khvichia said.

Khvichia called on the UNM to demonstrate greater political principle and consistency.

“It often happens that they start something and then abandon it halfway through. Now I urge them to take the case concerning Gvaramia and the destruction of the alliance all the way to the end,” Khvichia said.

According to him, it is now clear to the political spectrum that certain individuals, through cooperation with Georgian Dream, damaged the opposition and contributed to Georgian Dream being left alone in parliament.

“Ana Tsitlidze understood this even earlier and was saying it all along, but she never had adequate support within her party. I hope she will now gain that support and that the fight to determine ‘who is who’ in Georgian politics will be brought to its conclusion,” Khvichia said.

The remarks follow a statement by UNM member Ana Tsitlidze, who said that Nika Gvaramia had capitalized on Mikheil Saakashvili’s resources and claimed that Gvaramia had been the UNM’s informal leader while serving as director of Mtavari Arkhi and was responsible for many developments.
