President of Georgia – Russia should realize that territory won by war and occupied by force cannot bring stability or welfare to the region
Occupation is the biggest pain for every Georgian citizen. This pain is equally felt on both sides of the occupational line. We all remember that our unity with Ossetians and Abkhazians count millenniums – President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili said in her statement on the 12th anniversary of Russia-Georgia war.
According to Zurabishvili, Russia has not achieved its goal. The war did not change Georgia’s path and its goal to become a strong, stable, democratic and independent country.
“We are part of one culture and common Caucasian civilization and those who struggle against this culture and civilization, struggle not only against out past, but are trying to deprive us our common future. Neither occupation of 20% of our territories nor infringement of our citizens’ rights and identity had influence on Georgia’s sovereignty and independence,” President stated.
President of Georgia claimed that Georgia did not stop aspiring to Europe and Euro-Atlantic space. “Russia should realize that territory won by war, occupied by force and captivated by fear population cannot bring stability or welfare to the region,” Zurabishvili said and called on Russia for fulfillment of the August 2008 ceasefire agreement.
