“Congratulations on October 17, Veterans Day, which the entire country celebrates with special respect, pride and deep gratitude. This is a day when the nation bows before those who, with their own blood, self-sacrifice, and unyielding spirit, wrote the modern history of our country,” said Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, addressing the event dedicated to Veterans Day.

According to Kavelashvili, heroes who sacrificed their most precious possession, their lives, for freedom of Georgia, secure an honored place in our national memory.

As the President noted, caring for veterans and ensuring their dignity, health, and well-being is a moral duty and an unwavering priority for both the state and society.

“The government is obliged to ensure that each of you feels respect, support and appreciation from the state daily. Today, when the world faces a complex and instable period, with global security challenges, wars and conflicts on several continents, you best aknowledge the true price of peace and freedom.

Your experience teaches us that peace is not a given provision. It requires constant vigilance, steadfastness, a strong state, and the unity of the nation. Our national spirit is rooted precisely in historical memory and the unbroken connection between generations.

We deeply believe that the country, which remembers its heroes, values their merit and protects their heritage, has a solid foundation and a bright future,” he said.
