President Kavelashvili holds meeting with UN-accredited ambassadors
Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili held a meeting with UN-accredited ambassadors. He welcomed the ambassadors’ visit and accentuated positive significance of similar visits.
During the meeting at the Presidential Palace, the President and ambassadors reviewed fruitful cooperation within the organization, Georgia’s active involvement in the UN’s activities, and current issues on the organization’s agenda.
The meeting focused on the situation in Georgia’s occupied regions, economic reforms, global challenges and ongoing processes.
Mikheil Kavelashvili remarked that Georgia welcomes the UN Secretary General’s UN 80 reform initiative, which aims to increase the effectiveness of the organization and recognize the need for structural changes. He also emphasized Georgia’s special role as a platform for dialogue and peace among civilizations.
The delegations comprised permanent representatives in the UN from Tonga, Samoa, Tajikistan, Congo, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Timor-Leste, Paraguay, Mauritius and Botswana.
Deputy Foreign Minister Lasha Darsalia, Georgia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Davit Bakradze and representatives of the Presidential Administration attended the meeting.
