President Kavelashvili awards 9 employees of Tbilisi Transport Company with Orders of Honour

Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili, during the event dedicated to the 60th anniversary of Tbilisi Metro’s establishment, awarded nine employees of Tbilisi Transport company with Orders of Honour, at the joint nomination of Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili.

In his speech, Mikheil Kavelashvili remarked that the Tbilisi Metro was the key transport, which had connected various districts of the city for six decades and ensured safe transportation of hundreds of thousands of citizens daily.

“The metro is not just transportation. The metro is the pulse of the capital. The metro is Tbilisi’s main means of transportation, which has been connecting different districts of the city for six decades, allowing citizens to arrive at their jobs, educational institutions and their homes on time and safely. During these years, the metro has had a positive impact on the city’s development. It lessened traffic, saved the time of citizens, improved the ecological situation and contributed to the capital’s economic and social development,” Mikheil Kavelashvili said.

President Kavelashvili extended his gratitude to the Tbilisi Metro’s 2800 employees, who ensured the metro’s “smooth and safe operation daily,” to Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, for his efforts to develop the Tbilisi Metro and public transport that have “positively influenced the city’s life.”

“Dear friends, I wish all employees of Tbilisi Metro strong health, success and prosperity, and peace and development to our beloved Tbilisi,” he concluded.

Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze, Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili, Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, and representatives of legislative and executive authorities attended the event.
