Patrol Police Infantry Division will start patrolling in Tbilisi tourist zonesstarting from May 21, – Georgian Minister of Internal Affairs Giorgi Gakharia made the regarding statement at the plenary session of the Parliament today.
He informed lawmakers about the planned novelties and talked about the challenges reasoned by the tourism growth in the city.
“As you know, the number of tourists in Georgia is growing daily. On the one hand, it is a great benefit for the economy, but it is a serious challenge for the law enforcement system, as such traffic of tourists is related to certain risks” – Minister said.
According to him specific locations and routes have been already determined, where police will start patrolling from Monday.
“20 crews of patrol police subdivision will start patrolling in tourist zones starting from Monday and 20 crews will be added monthly. This is something like tourist police, which will keep order and serve tourists”, – said Gakharia.
